Vengeful Spirit is a hero from the game Dota 2. She is a hot and angry character.
Skywrath Mage Dragonus was sworn to protect whoever sits the Nest of Thorns and he was a friend and companion to the eldest Skywrath Princess Shendelzare (later Vengeful Spirit) and was in love with her, but later on he was so busy with his arcane studies that he missed the obvious signs of plot against Shendelzare so he could not act in time.
Shendelzare was attacked by her younger sister (in DOTA1, Phantom Assassin, but they are not related in DOTA2), and she could only tore free from the net of an assassin if she ripped off her own wings. She fled, knowing that without her wings, she could not be accepted as queen, and seeking vengeance, she surrendered her broken body to the goddess Scree’auk in return of spirit energy.
Dragonus, even after finding out the truth, could not do anything since he is sworn to protect the Skywrath scion, so to act against the Nest would render him helpless. He believes that one day he may restore his love to her rightful place and in her original, healed physical form.
